LaLiga investigates racist incidents and fan attacks
LaLiga has announced an investigation into racist insults during the Espanyol-Athletic Bilbao match and hostile chants heard during the Osasuna-Real Madrid game. The Spanish football governing body plans to report these incidents to the relevant authorities.
According to a statement, the referee of the Espanyol-Athletic match activated the anti-racism protocol after being alerted by player Iñaki Williams. The referee informed the crowd that the match could be suspended if the behavior persisted.
Additionally, LaLiga revealed that the match director informed them about chants aimed at Real Madrid players in Pamplona. An investigation is underway, and the matter will be submitted to the Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) Disciplinary Committee.
LaLiga is also closely monitoring the investigation into the assault on two Villarreal supporters, who were attacked by a group of masked individuals near the La Cerámica stadium following their match against Valencia on Saturday. Both Villarreal and Valencia condemned the attacks, with Valencia ensuring that any identified perpetrators who are club members would be banned from accessing Mestalla Stadium.
