Strengthening Morocco–Egypt Strategic Trade Ties

Morocco is stepping up its efforts to deepen trade relations with Egypt. From May 3 to 5, a high-level Moroccan economic delegation, comprising both institutional representatives and private sector leaders, is on an official visit to Cairo. The aim is to boost bilateral relations and enhance commercial exchanges between the two nations, according to an official statement.

The mission is led by Omar Hejira, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, and is part of a broader strategy to rebalance economic relations between Morocco and Egypt. A business forum will be held during the visit to create opportunities for companies from both sides to explore new areas of cooperation, uncover trade prospects, and ease Moroccan access to the Egyptian market—seen as a promising growth hub for Moroccan exporters.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Arab Republic of Egypt to strengthen their economic partnership on a basis of fairness and mutual benefit. It follows a bilateral meeting held in Rabat on February 27, 2025, between Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, Secretary of State Omar Hejira, and Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hassan El Khatib.

During that meeting, both parties pledged to intensify cooperation by facilitating trade exchanges, increasing Moroccan exports to Egypt—particularly in the automotive sector—and encouraging the creation of business partnerships and networks between their private sectors.
