INEE becomes Morocco’s first accredited energy services company
Innovative Energy & Efficiency (INEE), a subsidiary of the CDG Group, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first company to receive official accreditation as an Energy Services Company (ESCO) in Morocco. This landmark development was authorized by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development on May 20, under Decree No. 2-24-153, which implements Law No. 47-09 focused on energy efficiency.
This accreditation marks an important step in the operationalization of the regulatory framework for energy efficiency, reflecting the ministry's ongoing commitment to sustainable energy practices. As the first ESCO approved under this new legal framework, INEE's role is pivotal in advancing energy efficiency solutions, renewable energy production, and decarbonization projects across the nation.
INEE operates throughout the entire value chain, offering services that encompass energy audits, real-time monitoring, and operational management. The company integrates financing, engineering, and project assembly, catering to both public and private sector clients.
“This recognition allows INEE to contract energy efficiency projects through Energy Performance Contracts based on a structuring partnership model,” stated the company. These contracts establish a framework where ESCOs are connected to clients through measurable objectives, with payments directly linked to actual energy savings achieved.
The ESCO business model aims to mitigate financial risks for clients while promoting reduced energy consumption. INEE is committed to deploying technical solutions that meet energy performance targets across various sectors, including Smart City development, industry, tertiary services, logistics, and agriculture. Furthermore, the company is actively engaged in implementing the Administration’s Exemplarity Pact.
Energy efficiency is increasingly recognized as a driver of job creation in the sector. The new regulatory framework is designed to cultivate a national ecosystem of specialized companies while fostering skills development and training. INEE emphasizes its role in structuring this ecosystem, which supports Morocco's broader efforts to enhance energy sovereignty, accelerate decarbonization, and build economic resilience against climate challenges.
To date, the ministry has authorized 25 companies to conduct mandatory energy audits and has expressed its commitment to supporting additional firms that wish to join this ecosystem, thereby contributing to a more sustainable economy. INEE’s new status underscores the CDG Group’s dedication to energy transition and territorial development within Morocco.
