L’bankalik sparks excitement in Moroccan gaming with L’banka League finale
L’bankalik, the 100% mobile banking brand of Attijariwafa Bank, celebrated the grand finale of the first edition of its amateur esports tournament, L’banka League, on June 4, 2025. Held under the auspices of the Fédération Royale Marocaine des Jeux Électroniques (FRMJE) and in partnership with Mastercard and FC Media, this event brought together millions of young gaming enthusiasts, highlighting the growing influence of esports in Moroccan popular culture.
The finale took place in the iconic Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur in Casablanca and was broadcast live on social media platforms. It concluded weeks of regional qualifiers and competitions in a vibrant atmosphere of shared passion and celebration. The event crowned the Moroccan Amateur Champion of L’banka League, solidifying its place as a landmark in the local gaming scene.
Ghyzlaine Alami Marrouni, executive director responsible for retail and professional markets, emphasized the significance of this initiative: “The bank of tomorrow goes beyond finance. It embraces passion, talent, and community. Esports inspires us, and we want to be part of this world, especially since 47% of Moroccans aged 15-24 are gamers.”
This initiative aligns with L’bankalik’s mission to cater to the mobile generation through a fully digital and user-friendly banking experience. Hicham El Khlifi, president of the FRMJE, praised the collaboration: “The development of Morocco’s esports ecosystem relies on partnerships like this. L’banka League is a model of synergy between the private sector and gaming stakeholders.”
Another highlight of the finale was the unveiling of the first League of Legends card in the MENA region, developed in partnership with Mastercard. This innovative card offers L’bankalik customers exclusive benefits on various gaming platforms, enabling them to immerse themselves in their passion daily. Mohamed Benomar, Mastercard’s managing director for North Africa, expressed his enthusiasm: “Gaming is a powerful way to connect with younger generations.”
A significant announcement at the event was the launch of L’bankalik Start, a new banking app designed specifically for adolescents aged 12 to 17. This solution aims to promote financial literacy from an early age, offering an intuitive platform to manage pocket money. Parents can initiate account openings directly through their Attijari Mobile space, with integrated parental control tools to oversee usage.
Through these initiatives, L’bankalik reaffirms its commitment to Moroccan youth by blending innovative banking solutions with a passion for gaming. The brand continues to foster financial inclusion and inspire the next generation in a fully digital, inclusive environment.
