Grand Yennayer Celebration Marks the Beginning of the Amazigh New Year
Rabat - The capital came alive with music, dance, and cultural pride on Sunday evening as Morocco welcomed the Amazigh New Year 2974. The iconic Théâtre Mohammed V hosted a grand ceremony attended by government officials, celebrities, and the public, ushering in festivities for this significant cultural holiday.
The event commenced with a retrospective film, highlighting pivotal moments in the promotion of the Amazigh language and culture as integral components of Morocco's national identity. Renowned Amazigh musicians such as Raissa Fatima Tihihit and Houssa 46 captivated the audience with a blend of classical and contemporary sounds. Authentic folkloric songs and dances brought Amazigh traditions to life on the grand stage.
Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mohamed Mahdi Bensaid emphasized the government's dedication to preserving and promoting Morocco's rich cultural heritage. In his remarks to the press, he underlined plans to further support Amazigh art and culture on a national scale.
The holiday, officially established by King Mohammed VI, has ignited celebrations across Morocco's diverse regions. The glamorous national ceremony in Rabat on Sunday set the celebratory tone, showcasing the best of Moroccan creativity and diversity.
