Morocco's Charm Lands Casablanca Top Spot in Travelers' Choice Awards
Casablanca has received global recognition as one of the premier travel destinations, securing the 23rd position in Tripadvisor's highly esteemed 2023 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best awards, featuring 25 destinations from around the world.
Tripadvisor lauded Casablanca as "the most cosmopolitan and Western-feeling city in Morocco," emphasizing its unique blend of modern Moroccan life and the enchanting atmosphere of the old medina district. While not overly touristy, the city offers visitors an opportunity to experience classic movie moments amid its charming surroundings. Tourists are encouraged to explore the architectural marvel of the King Hassan II mosque and meander through the lively alleys of the historic medina.
This accolade adds to a series of commendations highlighting Morocco's growing allure in the tourism sector. CNN recently designated the country as a must-visit destination for 2024, while Lonely Planet featured it among its top spots. Bloomberg also underlined Morocco's robust tourism performance, emphasizing its resilience in the face of natural disasters such as earthquakes.
Morocco's tourism sector has experienced unprecedented success, welcoming over 14 million international travelers in 2023 alone. Notably, tourism revenues have surged by a remarkable 15.8% compared to the previous year, reaching $9.8 billion by November. Other Moroccan destinations, including Fez, Marrakech, Tangier, and Marrakech, the sole African/Arab "Gem" chosen by Airbnb, have also garnered acclaim.
As evidenced by Tripadvisor's recognition, Morocco's cultural riches, scenic landscapes, and captivating charm continue to captivate global travelers. Casablanca's latest accolade solidifies its standing among the world's most enticing destinations, ensuring its continued allure for those seeking enriching travel experiences.
