Achraf Hakimi Wins 2024 Golden Lion Award
Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi, playing for Paris Saint-Germain, has claimed the prestigious 2024 Golden Lion Award. This honor, conferred by Al-Mountakhab newspaper, was determined by votes from 41 media outlets, including renowned sports journalists and experts.
Hakimi’s victory marks a significant milestone as he becomes the second Moroccan to win the African Golden Lion Award, following goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. His exceptional performances for both the Moroccan national team and Paris Saint-Germain earned him 162 points, securing the top spot. In second place was Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman of Atalanta, who garnered 96 points. Moroccan striker Soufiane Rahimi, currently playing for Al-Ain in the UAE, rounded out the top three with 90 points.
