French Music Star Kendji Girac Shot and Critically Injured in Biscarrosse
French singer Kendji Girac, who gained fame after winning The Voice France in 2014, was critically injured after being shot early Monday morning near the town of Biscarrosse, close to Bordeaux. The 27-year-old artist, known for blending his Catalan gypsy roots with contemporary pop music, was shot in the chest around 5:30 a.m. local time at a traveler site in the coastal town, located about 30 miles from Bordeaux.
Local authorities received an emergency call reporting the shooting, and when they arrived on the scene, they found Girac with a life-threatening gunshot wound to his chest. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Bordeaux, where he underwent emergency surgery. Officials later confirmed that while Girac's condition had stabilized, he remains in critical condition as he continues to receive medical treatment.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but no information on the potential motives has been released. A source close to the investigation told AFP that the police are keeping all possibilities open as they gather more information.
Girac's sudden injury has left his fans and the French music community in shock. He first gained national recognition with his cover of Gims' song in 2013, which displayed his powerful vocals and unique musical style. His win on The Voice the following year solidified his place as a rising star, and he has since released five successful studio albums, often drawing comparisons to the Gypsy Kings.
As news of the attack spread, Girac's fan base expressed their support and concern for the young singer's recovery. Social media platforms were filled with messages of encouragement, and many have been left hoping for positive news in the days ahead.
While Girac's career is on hold as he battles for his life, his fans, family, and colleagues in the music industry are united in wishing him a speedy recovery. Updates on his condition are eagerly awaited as the investigation into the shooting continues.
