INDH's Commitment to Enhancing Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities
The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) has successfully implemented 2,057 initiatives and actions, amounting to a total of 856.26 million dirhams (MDH) between 2019 and 2023, aimed at assisting destitute individuals with disabilities across the nation.
In a press release coinciding with the observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons (December 3), the national coordinating body of the INDH highlights that the majority of these initiatives were executed through the Programme d'Accompagnement des personnes en situation de précarité (Support Program for People in Precarious Situations). These initiatives primarily focus on the establishment and furnishing of 714 specialized reception centers that adhere to high-quality construction standards.
Additionally, an allocation of 184.84 million dirhams has been earmarked to support the operations of center management associations. This financial support aims to implement a more performance-oriented and resource-pooling-optimized approach to center management.
The same source indicates that these initiatives also include 24 training and capacity-building actions, totaling 4.68 MDH. These actions concentrate on developing the necessary skills to provide professional assistance to individuals with special needs, such as children with Down syndrome, deaf-mute children, autistic children, blind and partially-sighted individuals, and those with motor disabilities.
Furthermore, the coordination emphasizes that the International Day of Persons with Disabilities provides an opportunity to reaffirm its dedication to improving the status of this group and facilitating their assimilation into society. The INDH consistently prioritizes resource-poor disabled individuals by executing a multitude of initiatives aimed at providing them with dignified living conditions.
In addition, it is stated that the observance of this global day serves as a chance to reaffirm the INDH's continuous dedication to safeguarding and advancing the dignity and rights of individuals with disabilities.
