King Mohammed VI Receives Saudi Royal Envoy for Bilateral Talks
In a regal display of unwavering bonds, King Mohammed VI of Morocco welcomed Prince Turki bin Mohammed Al Saud, the state minister and envoy of Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to the Royal Palace in Casablanca on Tuesday. This diplomatic meeting aligns with a longstanding tradition of consultation between the two kingdoms, focusing on regional and global matters.
As the Saudi royal envoy delivered a message from his sovereign, King Mohammed VI expressed profound appreciation for the deep-rooted ties of brotherhood and mutual respect between the two royal families. The king highlighted the robust cooperation and solidarity that define the bilateral relationship between Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
This royal reception occurs amidst ongoing efforts by both nations to strengthen their bilateral ties, reaffirming a commitment to fostering even closer bonds. Earlier this week, a high-level security summit convened in Rabat, where Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Surveillance of Territory (DGST) in Morocco, and Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Morocco, engaged in discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual security interest.
During the summit, the two officials reviewed the existing security cooperation between their nations, outlining strategies to elevate it to a level befitting their strong bilateral relations. They discussed the current security landscape, addressing emerging crises and potential threats on both international and regional fronts, reinforcing their shared determination to tackle any challenges that may arise.
Hammouchi and Al-Saleh emphasized their countries' commitment to strengthening security cooperation through the exchange of expertise and experiences in policing. This approach aims to achieve common security objectives and safeguard the well-being of their respective nations.
This diplomatic convergence follows a significant milestone in January 2024, when Saudi Arabia took proactive measures to demonstrate its support for Morocco's stance on the Sahara issue. In a notable gesture, the Saudi Royal Court issued a directive instructing government entities within the kingdom to avoid using the term "Western Sahara" or displaying a divided map of Morocco, thereby reinforcing its support for Morocco's territorial integrity.
As ties between Morocco and Saudi Arabia continue to flourish, this latest diplomatic exchange underscores the enduring bonds between the two nations, fostering a future built on shared values, mutual respect, and a steadfast commitment to regional stability and global cooperation.
