Morocco Advances Towards Sustainable Future with Groundbreaking Decree
In a pivotal move signaling its dedication to sustainable development on a global scale, the Moroccan government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, has recently endorsed a groundbreaking decree. This decisive step establishes the framework and delineates the responsibilities of the Department of Sustainable Development.
Championed by Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, the decree is a strategic response to the recommendations outlined in the General Report on the New Development Model. The overarching goal is to curtail Morocco's carbon emissions and align the nation with international climate objectives.
Addressing the imperative need for collective action, Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate in Charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, emphasized, "This necessitates converging efforts from all parties to execute the national sustainable development strategy."
Under Minister Benali's leadership, the establishment of this new department signifies Morocco's unwavering commitment to a more environmentally conscious future, echoing the visionary development model put forth by King Mohammed VI. The decree stands as a monumental achievement, translating high-level plans into tangible, on-the-ground actions for sustainability.
