Morocco's footwear exports to Brazil surge with remarkable growth
Morocco's footwear exports to Brazil have experienced an astounding surge, with sales spiking by 3,300% in February compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth positioned Morocco as one of the top 20 suppliers of shoes to the Latin American market, according to data from the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association.
In February, Morocco exported 1,976 pairs of shoes to Brazil, translating to approximately 32,500insales.Interestingly,theaveragesellingpriceperpairshowedasignificantdecline,droppingfrom32,500 in sales. Interestingly, the average selling price per pair showed a significant decline, dropping from 32,500insales.Interestingly,theaveragesellingpriceperpairshowedasignificantdecline,droppingfrom48.78 in February 2024 to just $16.45 this year—an impressive decrease of 66.3%. Despite this reduction in price, Morocco has secured its place as the 17th largest footwear supplier to Brazil.
While the total footwear imports by Brazil amounted to 49.4millionduringthesamemonth—a7.549.4 million during the same month—a 7.5% decline compared to February 2024—the volume of imported pairs rose, increasing by 11.3% to reach 4.5 million pairs. Over the first two months of 2025, Brazil's total footwear imports hit 49.4millionduringthesamemonth—a7.597.43 million, marking a 7.4% rise compared to the same period last year, with a total of 7.9 million pairs imported, reflecting a 14.1% increase.
The leading footwear suppliers to Brazil included China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Paraguay. In recent years, both Morocco and Brazil have demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing trade cooperation. In 2022, trade between the two nations reached a historical high of $3.13 billion, as reported by Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which credited the spike to Morocco's opening market for Brazilian products.
