Morocco’s Highway Authority Urges Caution During Busy Holiday Travel

Morocco’s National Motorway Company (ADM) has issued a travel advisory urging drivers to exercise caution during the upcoming one-week school holiday, which coincides with increased highway traffic.

Safety Tips for Drivers

To ensure safety, ADM has recommended several precautionary measures:

Plan ahead: Organize your journey in advance and monitor traffic conditions using the ADMTRAFIC app.

Stay informed: Check weather forecasts, especially in cases of adverse conditions like strong winds, rain, or fog.

Take regular breaks: Stop every two hours to rest and maintain alertness.

Vehicle maintenance: Inspect your vehicle, particularly tire conditions, before hitting the road.

Emergency lane use: Reserve this lane for emergencies only. Rising Concerns About Holiday Traffic

The school holiday, scheduled from December 8 to December 15, typically sees an uptick in road accidents due to higher traffic volumes. According to the Moroccan Road Safety Agency (NARSA), the country records an annual average of 3,600 road accident fatalities and 150,000 injuries, with damages exceeding MAD 20 billion.

ADM’s proactive approach is part of broader efforts to mitigate risks and ensure safer travel during the holiday period.

Stay safe and informed by following ADM’s guidelines, and make your holiday travel plans with caution and preparedness in mind.
