New UK Labour Party initiative strengthens diplomatic ties with Morocco
A significant diplomatic development unfolded in London on Wednesday with the launch of "Labour Friends of Morocco," a group aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between Morocco and the UK's governing Labour Party.
British MP Joe Powell leads this new initiative, which focuses on fostering partnerships across multiple sectors including renewable energy, technology, agriculture, and tourism. The group's mission encompasses addressing global challenges, particularly in areas of climate change, green technologies, and sustainability.
During the inaugural event, group members formalized their commitment by signing a pledge to align both nations' interests, recognizing Morocco's strategic position as a bridge between Europe and Africa and its role as a key UK ally.
Powell, who represents Kensington and Bayswater constituency - home to one of Britain's largest Moroccan communities - expressed his commitment to working alongside fellow MPs to strengthen bilateral relations and create a platform addressing issues relevant to UK-based Moroccan communities.
Morocco's Ambassador to the UK, Hakim Hajoui, welcomed the group's establishment, highlighting the historic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized the potential for enhanced economic and cultural collaboration, while acknowledging the valuable role of the Moroccan community in the UK as a vital connection between both countries.
The ambassador particularly noted the Moroccan diaspora's contributions in fostering mutual understanding and shared prosperity between the two nations, underlining their role in deepening bilateral ties.
