Strengthening military ties: Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire sign cooperation agreement

In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire have formalized a military cooperation agreement. This agreement was signed on Friday during a pivotal meeting in Rabat between Abdellatif Loudiyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense, and Téné Birahima Ouattara, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State and Minister of Defense.

Minister Ouattara is currently on a working visit to Morocco, accompanied by a distinguished delegation, which included the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Morocco, who was present at the signing ceremony.

According to a statement from Morocco’s Administration of National Defense, the agreement is designed to enhance military collaboration between the two nations. It encompasses various sectors, including training, education, military health services, technical assistance, and the exchange of expertise in areas of mutual interest.

During their discussions, Minister Loudiyi referenced King Mohammed VI’s visionary initiative aimed at transforming Africa’s Atlantic coast into a region characterized by economic integration, peace, stability, and shared prosperity. This ambitious vision extends to both Atlantic and Sahel countries, offering them enhanced access to the Atlantic Ocean and fostering new avenues for development.

Minister Ouattara emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco. He praised King Mohammed VI’s dedication to South-South cooperation, highlighting its advantages for African nations involved.

Concluding the meeting, both officials expressed their mutual determination to deepen their relationship further. They affirmed their commitment to implementing the terms of the newly signed military cooperation agreement, which underscores the robust and amicable ties that exist between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.
