Strengthening Morocco-Iraq relations through intensive bilateral coordination
The Vice-President of the Iraqi Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, praised the "total" and "intense" coordination characterizing Morocco-Iraq relations during his visit to Rabat. Speaking at a joint press conference following discussions with Nasser Bourita, Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Hussein highlighted that this robust coordination spans all areas of bilateral cooperation and addresses numerous international issues.
Hussein underscored the significance of Morocco's decision to reopen its embassy in Baghdad, which he described as a key step toward a more developed and structured bilateral relationship. The reopening of the embassy was seen as a major move toward enhancing cooperation and solidifying ties between the two nations.
The Iraqi Minister also emphasized the importance of learning from Morocco’s "pioneering" and "rich" experience, particularly in sectors like the economy, tourism, and alternative energy in Africa. He called for expanding bilateral partnerships, particularly in Africa, by leveraging Morocco’s vast expertise.
Additionally, Hussein urged for greater cooperation between the private sectors of both nations to facilitate access to their respective markets, recognizing the immense opportunities available. He also stressed the need to enhance air connectivity to boost the tourism industry in both countries.
During his talks with Minister Bourita, Hussein discussed a range of issues concerning the Arab region, as well as several regional and international matters of shared interest.
