Trump's Narrow Escape : Witness Recounts Chilling Assassination Attempt on Golf Course
Steve Witkoff, a close friend and golfing partner of former President Donald Trump, has revealed the terrifying moments that unfolded during an apparent assassination attempt at Trump's Florida golf course on Sunday.
Witkoff, a prominent businessman and political donor, described the scene to NBC News, detailing how a series of loud gunshots sent the former president's security detail into immediate action. "I knew instantly that those 'pops' were gunfire," Witkoff said, praising the Secret Service's swift response in getting Trump off the course in a matter of seconds.
The suspect, Ryan Routh, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Authorities revealed that Routh had hidden in bushes for up to 12 hours, armed with a semi-automatic weapon, and aimed at Trump from a distance of approximately 400 yards.
"The entire team converged on top of him, except for the snipers," Witkoff explained, recalling how the Secret Service agents protected Trump. "The snipers separated and took aim at the source of the shots."
In the aftermath of the incident, pressure has once again mounted on the Secret Service, following a similar attempt on Trump's life at a rally in Pennsylvania just over two months ago. Despite this, Witkoff emphasized Trump's faith in the agency, stating, "He respects them tremendously."
When asked about Trump's reaction to the incident and the potential for future threats, Witkoff noted, "He's a hard guy to suppress. Golf is his happy place, where he can slow down and relax." However, he added, "Mistakes could have been made, and in this case, lives could be at stake."
Trump has not shied away from pointing fingers, accusing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of using language that incited the two assassination attempts. Witkoff explained Trump's perspective, stating, "He feels that Harris' political beliefs are far to the left, reminiscent of Marxist ideology."
As the investigation into the incident continues, the nation remains on edge, with questions surrounding the security of high-profile figures and the potential for further threats.
This article is intended for a general audience interested in current affairs and political developments, providing an insightful and detailed account of a recent assassination attempt on a former US president.
