UK issues new travel warning for Algeria border regions
the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office issued an updated security advisory strongly discouraging travel to several high-risk areas in Algeria. These include border regions adjoining Libya, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, and parts of the frontier with Tunisia.
Specifically, the warning highlights the provinces of Illizi and Ouargla, as well as the Chaambi mountain range. Travel along the rest of the Algeria-Tunisia border is also considered risky, and only essential journeys are advised.
The ministry emphasizes that ignoring these recommendations could void travel insurance policies and stresses that no area can be guaranteed completely safe. Travelers are urged to review security advice, health requirements, entry conditions, and emergency support services before their trip.
Special guidance is provided for women traveling alone, people with disabilities, and sexual minorities, who are deemed more vulnerable. Those participating in adventure tourism or volunteer work should exercise heightened caution.
