Advancing Consular Services Online: A Leap Towards Modernization
In response to the longstanding request from Moroccan residents abroad (MRE), the implementation of an online consular service demonstrates the deep concern that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has for the members of the Moroccan community living overseas, aiming to enhance their reception and support at Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts.
By establishing an appointment management system, similar to those commonly found in host countries' administrations, the expectations and desires of MRE for modern and high-quality consular services can be met.
This system not only provides MRE with convenient access to consular services in an optimal environment but also reduces waiting times and ensures a higher standard of reception and service.
Moreover, it significantly diminishes the long queues that used to form outside the Consular Services of the Kingdom, allowing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Moroccans Residing Abroad (MAEC) to optimize the dedicated reception area and utilize new communication and information technologies to enhance consular services.
Once the consular service requests are validated by the Consular Services, this system offers users the flexibility to choose their preferred time slots and dates for their desired service or assistance. It even enables them to submit supporting documents online, eliminating the need to physically visit the Consular Services.
To ensure the success of this project, users receive support from the Consular Call Center and the Consular Services of the Kingdom abroad.
Since its launch, the appointment management system has processed over 3.2 million appointments, providing more than 5 million consular services to members of the Moroccan community residing abroad.
In line with the digitization initiative for stamps introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, in coordination with the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR), the implementation of the "eStamp" management module represents a crucial milestone in consular modernization.
This new method of payment for consular fees aims to strengthen trust between users and Consular Services, ensuring greater transparency in administrative transactions.
Since its introduction, this solution has facilitated over 2.8 million consular services. The deployment of Electronic Payment Terminals (EPTs) at Consular Posts accompanied the implementation of this system by the MAEC.
