Moroccan Karate Stars Shine at North Africa Championship
Competing against top athletes from across North Africa, Morocco's national karate team delivered an outstanding performance at the recent North Africa Karate Championship in Cairo, Egypt. The squad secured an impressive haul of 25 medals, including 9 gold, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of the Moroccan athletes.
The championship, held on August 17 and 18, featured intense competition among participants from Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, and Morocco. Representing the country with pride, the 27-member Moroccan team, composed of both male and female athletes, shone brightly, with nearly all of the national team members reaching the podium.
In a post on social media, the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation (FRMK) expressed their delight at the team's outstanding achievement. "Our Moroccan team has truly represented Morocco with pride, earning a remarkable total of 25 medals - 9 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze. We are incredibly proud of our athletes and their hard work and commitment."
The success of the Moroccan karate team is a testament to the effective training and support provided by their coaches, as well as the determination and skill of the individual athletes. While the Egyptian team, with over 300 participants, topped the overall medal standings, the Moroccan squad's performance was nothing short of exceptional.
Earlier in 2023, Morocco's karate prowess was further highlighted when the country achieved a notable victory at the inaugural Para Karate event of the African Karate Championship. Among the Moroccan medalists, Said Mahmoudi stood out by winning the prestigious gold medal in the "Para exhibition" category.
The North Africa Karate Championship has once again demonstrated the rising prominence of Moroccan karate on the international stage. The country's athletes have proven their mettle, showcasing their world-class skills and determination. As the FRMK rightly stated, the Moroccan team has undoubtedly represented their nation with the utmost pride and honor.
