Hassan II University Shines in Global Academic Ranking
In a notable achievement for Moroccan academia, Hassan II University in Casablanca has secured a spot in the esteemed 2024 Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities. This recognition underscores Morocco's rising influence in the global educational landscape.
The university, located in Morocco's economic hub, is ranked between 901st and 1000th globally. Its biology department also stands out, placing between 201st and 300th in faculty rankings.
Globally, American universities continue to dominate. Harvard leads for the 22nd year, followed by Stanford and MIT. In the UK, Cambridge and Oxford take 4th and 6th places, respectively.
Since 2003, the Shanghai Ranking has set the benchmark for evaluating university performance worldwide. It emphasizes research impact over classroom achievements.
The ranking criteria include Nobel and Fields Medal awards, recognition of highly cited researchers, article volume in prestigious journals like "Nature" and "Science," and comprehensive indexing in global citation databases. Over 2,500 institutions are assessed, making this ranking a key indicator of academic prestige.
