Kamala Harris Highlights Trump's Campaign Fatigue in New Attack Ad
In a recent campaign move, Kamala Harris's team released a video suggesting that Donald Trump appeared to doze off during a campaign event in Michigan. The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows Trump seemingly closing his eyes and nodding off during a business roundtable. This incident has sparked a fresh line of criticism from Harris, who argues that the former president is too "exhausted" to effectively run for office.
The Harris campaign's strategy comes in the wake of a Politico report indicating that an adviser to Trump claimed he was declining certain interviews due to fatigue. While NBC News has not confirmed this report, it has provided Harris with ammunition for her attacks. Speaking to reporters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she emphasized the demanding nature of the presidency, questioning Trump's fitness for the role if he struggles with the rigors of campaigning.
During her rallies on Friday, Harris reiterated her concerns about Trump's stamina, stating, "If you are exhausted on the campaign trail, it raises real questions about whether you are fit for the toughest job in the world." Her campaign has consistently echoed this sentiment across various social media platforms and press releases.
In response, the Trump campaign criticized the Politico journalist and highlighted Trump's frequency of media engagements compared to Harris, who has been campaigning for a shorter period. When asked about Harris's claims of his exhaustion and reports of canceled events, Trump denied feeling tired and insisted he was "really exhilarated." He remarked, "I’ve gone 48 days now without a rest," contrasting his energy with Harris's absence from a recent Catholic charity dinner.
This isn't the first time concerns about Trump's alertness have surfaced; he faced similar scrutiny during his New York hush money trial earlier this year when he was seen appearing to nod off at the defense table. Trump refuted these claims on Truth Social, asserting that he simply closes his eyes to listen intently.
As both candidates gear up for the upcoming election cycle, their exchanges reflect not only their differing approaches but also the high stakes involved in capturing voter attention and trust.
