Morocco's UM6P Hospitality School Achieves Historic EHL Certification
The School of Hospitality Business and Management (SHBM) at Morocco's University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) has made history by becoming the first and only institution in Africa to receive certification from the prestigious EHL Hospitality Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
This landmark achievement marks a significant milestone for SHBM and underscores its ambition to emerge as a leading force in hospitality education across Morocco and the African continent. The certification from EHL, widely recognized as the world's first hospitality management school, is a testament to SHBM's commitment to excellence and innovation in the field.
Syrab El Malti, Director of SHBM, expressed pride in this accomplishment, highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to this recognition. "This certification reflects the close partnership between SHBM and EHL over the past four years of our school's development," El Malti stated. She further emphasized that this achievement is a result of the dedication shown by students, staff, and the broader ecosystem in nurturing a sustainable, quality-driven hospitality school.
The EHL certification is more than just a prestigious accolade; it offers tangible benefits to SHBM's graduates and future students. These individuals will now receive academic certification from EHL, along with the associated advantages that come with such recognition. This development is expected to significantly enhance the prospects and competitiveness of SHBM alumni in the global hospitality industry.
UM6P has reaffirmed its commitment to further developing SHBM's potential in light of this certification. The university emphasizes that research, adaptability, and innovation are integral to the school's culture. "SHBM ensures that students receive an education that balances cutting-edge theory with tactical experience," a statement from UM6P noted, highlighting the school's approach to preparing students for the dynamic hospitality sector.
El Malti sees this certification as a crucial step forward in SHBM's mission. "It marks another significant step forward in our mission to equip students with the knowledge, competencies, and, more importantly, the mindset needed to excel in the dynamic field of hospitality while having a positive impact on their community and beyond," she explained.
This achievement by SHBM not only elevates its status in the academic world but also positions Morocco as a emerging hub for world-class hospitality education in Africa. As the hospitality industry continues to evolve globally, SHBM's EHL certification ensures that its graduates will be well-prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of this dynamic field, both within Morocco and on the international stage.
