Go Siyaha Program Ignites Enthusiasm as Tourism Sector Pursues Competitiveness

Morocco's tourism industry has embraced the "Go Siyaha" program with enthusiasm and commitment, as evidenced by recent developments. According to a communiqué from the Ministry, an impressive 430 applications have been received, indicating the sector's eagerness to enhance competitiveness and capitalize on growth opportunities.

Among these applications, a significant portion 215, or 50% are for technical assistance, with a notable focus on digital transformation, which has garnered 136 requests. Additionally, 80 applications target operational excellence, while 50 aim at market development, reflecting the diverse needs and aspirations of industry players.

Stakeholders have also shown interest in investments, with 133 applications submitted for investment support. Noteworthy among these are over a dozen cooperatives in the animation sector, approximately 40 projects involving various animation initiatives, and more than 70 accommodation projects complemented by animation offerings.

In line with the nation's sustainability goals, 84 applications have been registered for green growth support, primarily focusing on photovoltaic initiatives and water conservation measures, particularly in the regions of Marrakech, Casablanca, Souss-Massa, and Fès-Meknès.

Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "Through these 430 applications, we observe a tangible enthusiasm from industry operators to enhance their competitiveness."

To achieve this objective, the "Go Siyaha" program offers three distinct support mechanisms, including investment grants of up to 40% and technical assistance subsidized at 90%.

The overarching goal is to foster development initiatives across all regions of the Kingdom, creating successful and captivating tourism experiences that resonate with visitors worldwide.

Since its launch, the program has organized numerous information sessions and awareness campaigns, covering all 12 regions of Morocco, totaling over 50 events. These efforts aim to acquaint local stakeholders with the opportunities presented by "Go Siyaha," fostering collaboration with regional tourism delegations, professional federations, Regional Tourism Councils (CRT), Regional Investment Centers (CRI), and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).

The campaigns have already visited regions such as Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Casablanca-Settat, Fès-Meknès, and Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, engaging more than 80 regional tourism operators at each stop.

The next destination on the campaign's itinerary is scheduled for May 24, 2024, in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, in collaboration with the Dakhla CRT and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco (CFCIM) Dakhla branch. This region, benefiting from a strategic geographical position on the Atlantic coast, has emerged as a premier tourism destination in the Southern Provinces of the Kingdom, particularly in the Ocean Waves sector dedicated to water sports such as surfing and kitesurfing.

As the "Go Siyaha" program gains momentum, it promises to drive growth, innovation, and sustainable practices within Morocco's tourism industry, positioning the nation as a formidable player on the global stage while preserving its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
