Strengthening Ties: Spain and Morocco Celebrate Unprecedented Bilateral Relations

Spain’s Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, declared on Wednesday that Morocco and Spain are enjoying the "best moment" in their bilateral relations. Speaking before the Spanish Congress of Deputies in Madrid, Albares emphasized the significance of this partnership, calling it vital and mutually advantageous for both nations.

He highlighted the strong security cooperation between the two countries, which has been crucial in the fight against human trafficking and terrorism. Albares praised the progress made through their joint initiatives, noting that the outcomes have been "entirely positive and extremely beneficial" for both sides.

The economic ties between Spain and Morocco are also flourishing. In 2023, trade between the nations exceeded EUR 21 billion. Nearly 17,000 Spanish companies export to Morocco, and over 4,000 Spanish businesses are active in the country.

Looking ahead, both nations are strengthening their security cooperation in preparation for hosting the FIFA 2030 World Cup, an event they will share with Portugal.
