Morocco chosen to host African finance ministers’ conference in 2026
Morocco is set to host the 58th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in March 2026.
This announcement was made on Friday during the experts' session of the 57th ECA session and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development taking place in Addis Ababa from March 12 to 18.
The unanimous decision to hold this significant conference in Morocco underscores the renewed trust in the country’s expertise and commitment to organizing large-scale continental events.
This decision reflects Morocco’s unwavering commitment to strengthening African cooperation and fostering the continent's economic and social development.
The upcoming 58th session, themed “Growth through Innovation: Leveraging Data and Cutting-Edge Technologies for Africa’s Economic Transformation,” highlights Morocco's intent to actively contribute to collective efforts aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable growth in Africa, utilizing its organizational capabilities and experience for the continent’s development.
Furthermore, Morocco was elected unanimously on Wednesday in Addis Ababa to preside over the 57th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development.
This choice reinforces the confidence of member states in Morocco's leadership and its commitment to a dynamic and inclusive economic governance in Africa.
