Azerbaijan-Morocco trade experiences significant growth in early 2025
Trade relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco are witnessing a remarkable upswing, with a reported 56% increase in trade volume during the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This surge, as reported by the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, reflects a robust strengthening of bilateral economic ties.
This impressive growth aligns with commitments made during the second session of the Morocco-Azerbaijan Joint Commission, which convened in Rabat in November 2023. The meeting, co-chaired by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, resulted in several agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation across key sectors such as energy and logistics.
The rising trade figures underscore both nations' dedication to fostering economic collaboration through strategic partnerships and diversifying their sectors. The increasing financial exchanges illustrate the growing complementarity between their markets, bolstered by ongoing dialogue among government institutions and business leaders.
In addition to the trade increase, the partnership between Baku and Rabat has been further strengthened by a mutual visa exemption agreement. This policy enables citizens of both countries to travel for short stays without the need for a visa, thereby promoting tourism, business interactions, and cultural exchanges.
During a recent visit to Morocco, Fuad Muradov, chairman of the state committee for work with the diaspora of Azerbaijan, praised Morocco's humanitarian approach to migration, commending King Mohammed VI’s policies towards the Moroccan diaspora and migrants.
