Morocco reaffirms commitment to territorial integrity at international conference
Morocco has firmly asserted its dedication to the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity, as highlighted by Mohamed Ould Errachid, President of the House of Councillors, during a conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This statement was made at the fourth conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) parliamentary network, part of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Ould Errachid emphasized that Morocco champions the same principles that inspired the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement: respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
He articulated Morocco's strategic vision, which is rooted in promoting international peace and security, enhancing effective solidarity, fostering fruitful cooperation, and ensuring integration. During the conference, themed "The role of parliaments in preserving the principles of Bandung," he underscored the need for parliaments to take on a more effective role in fostering dialogue and seeking innovative solutions to address challenges and meet the aspirations of their peoples.
Ould Errachid also referenced initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at establishing "fruitful and open strategic partnerships" and "pioneering and ambitious" initiatives to strengthen cooperation and solidarity, especially within the Global South.
He pointed out that these significant strategic projects are designed to enhance regional security and stability while promoting sustainable development, particularly in African and Atlantic contexts. These initiatives represent a new vision for multidimensional integration and cooperation.
The ongoing 150th IPU Assembly, running from April 5 to 9 in Tashkent, focuses on "Parliamentary action for social development and social justice."
