Economic and social development in Casablanca-Settat through INDH projects
The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) has planned approximately 8,200 projects in the Casablanca-Settat region between 2019 and 2024, with a total budget of nearly 4.3 billion dirhams (MMDH). Of these projects, 6,380 have been completed, accounting for 78%, with the INDH contributing 3 billion dirhams, or 70% of the total budget. This information was shared by Mohamed Mhidia, the wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, during a meeting of the Regional Human Development Committee (CRDH) on Thursday.
Mhidia highlighted that the third phase (2019-2023) of the INDH has played a significant role in the economic and social development of the country. The current transitional phase (2024-2025) focuses on key areas such as enhancing human capital for emerging generations, continuing support for vulnerable groups, integrating young people without education, employment, or training (NEETs), and speeding up the implementation and completion of projects while ensuring their sustainability.
Furthermore, Mhidia acknowledged the efforts of governors and the positive involvement of local councils, decentralized services, and civil society organizations. He emphasized that these efforts have led to the successful realization of various pioneering projects across the region’s prefectures and provinces, including the creation of social centers, preschool education units, modern maternity homes, development centers, youth platforms, and improvements to healthcare and social facilities, as well as the strengthening of school transport and ambulance fleets.
At the meeting, all stakeholders were urged to intensify their efforts, mobilize available resources, collaborate effectively, and adhere to good governance principles for the benefit of the region's residents.
