Afrojack ignites Rabat for the opening night of Mawazine 2025
The 20th edition of Mawazine Rhythms of the World kicked off Friday night in Rabat with a high-octane performance by Dutch DJ and producer Afrojack. The global EDM icon headlined the opening of the OLM Souissi stage, delivering an electrifying set that seamlessly blended house, pop, and electronic sounds.
Cheered by thousands of fans from across Morocco and beyond, Afrojack — real name Nick van de Wall — revisited his biggest hits like Take Over Control and Ten Feet Tall, along with exclusive remixes and crowd-favorites including Shockwave, Bringin it Back, and Give Me Everything.
A standout moment came when Afrojack surprised the audience with an unexpected remix of LM3ALLEM, the iconic Moroccan hit by Saad Lamjarred. Fusing deep basslines with gnawa rhythms, he transformed the stage into a cultural bridge between local traditions and international beats. The crowd responded with thunderous applause and sang along, creating a powerful sense of unity.
Accompanied by dazzling lights, giant projections, and pyrotechnics, the performance encapsulated the festival’s mission: to engage a tech-savvy, multi-generational audience through immersive musical experiences.
Afrojack’s show set the tone for a bold and eclectic lineup, with upcoming performances by global superstars like Kid Cudi, 50 Cent, and Lil Baby. As in previous editions, Mawazine continues to position Rabat as a cultural capital that celebrates both world rhythms and the sound of tomorrow.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Mawazine Festival runs from June 20 to 28, 2025, and once again confirms its reputation as one of the most influential music events in the world.
