Samta Metals launches $70 million recycling and metal production facility in Kenitra Free Zone

Samta Metals & Alloys inaugurated a major industrial facility in the Atlantic Free Zone of Kenitra, investing around $70 million (approximately 700 million dirhams). The metal processing complex covers more than 36,000 square meters and will focus on recycling non-ferrous scrap metals to manufacture electrolytic copper, aluminum alloys, and silicon. Operations are expected to commence in 2026.

The plant plans to process 46,000 tons of metal waste yearly, producing 20,000 tons of aluminum and silicon alloys, alongside 15,000 tons of refined copper. These products will serve the automotive, energy, and aviation industries.

Samta Metals confirmed that the entire operation will utilize recycled materials and will be powered exclusively by renewable energy, aiming to cut carbon emissions by over 90% compared to conventional methods. Within three years, the facility’s production capacity will double to satisfy growing local and regional demands, creating over 400 jobs both directly and indirectly.

Minister of Industry and Trade Riyad Mezzour described the project as a key move to promote the circular economy in Morocco, converting metal waste into valuable resources while advancing environmental sustainability and industrial efficiency.

Ravi Agrawal, the group’s general manager, highlighted the project's commitment to combining industrial excellence with environmental responsibility, emphasizing the involvement of women and local talent. Anil Tripathi, CEO, added that the facility’s design respects its natural surroundings and meets top sustainability and quality standards.

The Samta Group is engaged in diverse sectors, including renewable energy, biofibers, natural fertilizers, and nanotechnology, aiming to foster a sustainable industrial model within Morocco and the broader region.
