Productive call between US and China on trade deal
The President shared that he recently held a constructive phone conversation with President Xi of China, focusing on the recently finalized trade agreement. The discussion lasted about an hour and a half and concluded positively for both nations. The conversation addressed the complexities surrounding Rare Earth elements, aiming to resolve any remaining uncertainties.
Both countries will soon arrange a meeting between their respective teams at a location yet to be decided. Representing the United States will be Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer.
President Xi extended an invitation for the First Lady and the President to visit China, which was warmly accepted. The President emphasized that both leaders are eager to further strengthen their countries' relationship.
The dialogue focused exclusively on trade matters. Issues related to Russia, Ukraine, or Iran were not discussed. Media will be updated once details of the upcoming meeting are finalized.
