Mohamed Ghiath in Marrakech: "Morocco, leader of the energy transition in Africa"
Mohamed Ghiath, Vice President of the House of Representatives and a member of the National Rally of Independents, confirmed the Moroccan Parliament's firm commitment to supporting the energy transition and green investment in Africa. He spoke at an African parliamentary meeting organized in Marrakech by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which focused on the challenges of green investment and the transition to clean energy.
In his speech, Mohamed Ghiath recalled that Morocco has established itself as a major player in the Middle East and North Africa in the field of renewable energy. He highlighted the Noor solar complex, the largest on the continent, as well as the wind farms located across the country.
Ghiath emphasized that Africa today faces a dual challenge: accelerating its economic growth and responding to the climate emergency. According to him, climate finance and investment in clean energy constitute an essential strategic choice for achieving sustainable development and environmental preservation goals.
He stated that, driven by the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has resolutely chosen the path of energy transition, increasing investments in flagship projects such as the Noor complex in Ouarzazate and developing an ambitious wind power sector nationwide.
Finally, Mohamed Ghiath emphasized the importance of green industrial zones, which enable the emergence of an environmentally friendly and globally competitive industrial fabric. He also called for strengthening African parliamentary cooperation to share experiences and establish legislative frameworks favorable to green investment.
