Strategic accord in sight between King Mohammed VI and Donald Trump

Morocco and the United States are preparing to elevate their bilateral ties through a strategic summit that could soon bring together King Mohammed VI and former U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Bloomberg. The upcoming high-level meeting is expected to deepen both strategic and economic cooperation between the two nations.

One of the major points on the agenda includes a significant aircraft deal involving the purchase of 70 planes from the American aerospace giant Boeing. The agreement reportedly includes 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul travel and 50 Boeing 737s for short and medium-haul routes.

Beyond the commercial scope, the deal is expected to feature an industrial integration program in Morocco. This initiative would support the Kingdom’s goal of expanding its role in the global aerospace value chain. The Moroccan aviation sector already structured around ecosystems in Casablanca and Nouaceur stands to gain substantial momentum.

Meanwhile, Royal Air Maroc is finalizing a second strategic partnership, this time with Airbus, to acquire 20 A220 aircraft. Known for their efficiency on medium-capacity routes, these regional jets could be unveiled during the upcoming Paris Air Show at Le Bourget.

These developments align with Morocco’s broader long-term vision. As the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal, modernizing the national airline fleet is a key component of its strategy to support tourism growth, with a target of welcoming 26 million visitors annually.
