France seeks extradition of drug trafficking suspect arrested in Marrakech
On Saturday, June 14, Marrakech police, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested a French national of Malian origin wanted on an international warrant issued by French judicial authorities.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the suspect is sought for serving a prison sentence related to international drug trafficking as part of a criminal organization. An Interpol database check confirmed the individual is also wanted for money laundering.
The suspect is now in pre-extradition detention while awaiting formal proceedings. French authorities have been notified and are expected to submit an official extradition request in the coming days.
This arrest underscores Morocco’s growing role in global security efforts. Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi has praised the country’s contributions, highlighting its active involvement in numerous Interpol-led operations. Morocco has become a vital partner in international security, providing intelligence and operational support to apprehend suspects wanted by foreign authorities.
