Jonathan Anderson takes creative lead at Dior

Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson has been appointed as the overall artistic director of Dior, according to an announcement by LVMH on social media. This move follows the recent exit of Italian designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, who previously led Dior’s women’s division.

Anderson, who had already taken on the role of artistic director for Dior’s menswear in April, now becomes the first designer to oversee both the men's and women's collections at the iconic French fashion house LVMH’s second-largest label.

The 40-year-old designer stepped down from his position at Loewe in March, after revitalizing the Spanish heritage brand during a transformative decade at its helm. Under his direction, Loewe evolved from a quiet luxury label, mainly known for its handbags, into a trend-setting force with a strong celebrity following.

The announcement came from LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault during a shareholder meeting in Paris. Industry insiders had widely speculated about Anderson’s expanded role, given his reputation for bold and imaginative design, and the belief that Dior’s dual collections were in need of a cohesive creative vision.
