Moroccan educators shine at national teaching excellence awards

The sixth annual Teacher of the Year Awards ceremony took place at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, celebrating outstanding educators across Morocco. Minister of National Education Mohamed Saad Berrada presided over the event, which recognized teachers in three key categories: public primary education, inclusive education, and institutes for social and educational advancement.

In the public primary education category, Iqbal Ouaissa from the Oriental region claimed the top prize. Ismail Bahssain and Sheikh Naaima Abahazem, both representing Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, secured second and third places respectively.

The Institutes for Social and Educational Advancement category saw Zaha Kentawi from Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region earn first place. Hanane Semlali and Mohamed Alouni from Marrakech-Safi region followed in second and third positions.

For inclusive education, Hakima Haskouri from Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region received the highest honor. Ibtissam Farji from Marrakech-Safi took second place, while Abdelrahim Adardar from Souss-Massa secured third position.

The awards program, jointly organized by the Ministry of National Education, Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Social Works of Education and Training, Al Zohayd Foundation, and the Public School Friends Association, aims to recognize excellence in teaching. Since its fourth edition, the initiative has incorporated special recognition for regional projects in public primary education.

This celebration of educational achievement underscores Morocco's commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and strong student-teacher relationships within its education system. The awards serve to acknowledge educators who implement impactful classroom projects that create lasting impressions on their students.
