Chinese President Concludes Short Official Visit to Morocco
Casablanca, Morocco – Chinese President Xi Jinping departed Morocco on Friday afternoon, marking the end of a brief yet significant visit to the Kingdom. His departure took place at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, where he was seen off with a formal ceremony.
Upon leaving, President Xi Jinping was greeted by Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, who accompanied him in a review of a Royal Navy honor guard. The gesture underscored the ceremonial significance of the visit and highlighted the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Other prominent Moroccan officials present at the farewell included the Governor of Casablanca-Settat Region, Mohamed Mhidia; President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz; Governor of Nouaceur Province, Jalal Benhayoun; President of the Nouaceur Provincial Council, Mohamed Salmani; and the Mayor of Nouaceur, Abdelaziz Radi.
The Chinese delegation also featured high-ranking diplomatic and military representatives. Among them were China’s Ambassador to Morocco, Li Changlin; Counselor Zhou Zhicheng; Military Attaché Xia Kelin; and Economic and Commercial Counselor Zheng Wei.
Strengthening Diplomatic Ties
During his visit, President Xi was accompanied by a delegation of senior officials, including Cai Qi, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central Committee; Wang Yi, a Politburo member and Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Commission; and Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying.
The visit served to reinforce the partnership between Morocco and China, with both nations seeking to expand cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange. The presence of key officials from both sides highlighted the importance of fostering closer ties in alignment with shared strategic interests.
While the visit was brief, it underscored the mutual respect and collaboration that form the foundation of Morocco-China relations. The high-level meetings and engagements demonstrated a commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation and addressing shared global challenges.
As President Xi Jinping’s plane departed Casablanca, the symbolic farewell reaffirmed the growing bond between the two nations, setting the stage for continued partnership in the years to come.
