A total of 88 countries have either fully or partially suspended their postal services to the United States, causing a drop of over 80% in mail traffic to the country following the imposition of new tariffs by Washington, the United Nations postal agency announced on Saturday.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) is reportedly working on “the rapid development of a new technical solution that will allow the resumption of mail delivery to the United States,” said UPU Director General Masahiko Metoki in an official statement.

The suspension affects both commercial and personal mail, highlighting the broader impact of trade tensions on global logistics and communications. Authorities are urging swift international cooperation to restore reliable postal links between the U.S. and its global partners.
