Akhannouch Pledges Improved Living Conditions Through Expanded Social Assistance
AGADIR - Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, in a speech on Saturday, unveiled plans to elevate living conditions for low-income families by expanding direct social assistance programs. Addressing the 10th Regional Forum of the National Rally of Independents in Souss-Massa, Akhannouch highlighted that the initiative, initiated in late 2023, has already benefited over one million households through monthly stipends ranging from 500 to 1000 dirhams.
Akhannouch commended the progress in healthcare achieved through the rehabilitation of public hospitals and local clinics. Emphasizing the pivotal role of stimulating economic growth and job creation, he outlined strategies for increased investment.
Celebrating the inaugural national holiday for the Amazigh New Year, the Prime Minister praised King Mohammed VI's vision in establishing the official paid holiday as a significant milestone.
Addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity in Souss-Massa, Akhannouch underscored the necessity to expand the Chtouka Ait Baha seawater desalination plant. He also pointed out the need for a desalination facility in Tiznit to augment drinking water and support agriculture. Additionally, he cautioned about potential water shortages in Taroudant.
The 10th Regional Forum centered on examining matters related to local governance and the responsibilities of elected officials, providing a platform for fruitful discussions on these crucial issues.
