Anora wins best picture Oscar at Hollywood ceremony
The American tragicomedy Anora, directed by Sean Baker, has claimed the coveted Oscar for Best Picture during a dazzling ceremony held Sunday in Hollywood.
Already celebrated with the Palme d’Or at Cannes last May, Anora continued its remarkable awards streak, taking home a total of five Oscars.
The film triumphed over strong contenders, including Conclave, The Brutalist, Wicked, Je suis toujours là, and Emilia Pérez. In addition to the Best Picture honor, Sean Baker was awarded the Oscar for Best Director for his work on the film. Baker outshone an impressive lineup of nominees, including Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), Jacques Audiard (Emilia Pérez), Coralie Fargeat (The Substance), and James Mangold (Un parfait inconnu).
