Yassine Bounou was crowned Africa’s Best Goalkeeper at the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held on Wednesday evening in Rabat. The Moroccan international claimed the honour after another standout season that reaffirmed his status as one of the continent’s most reliable and influential shot-stoppers.

Bounou earned the award ahead of fellow Moroccan Munir El Kajoui of RS Berkane and South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns. The competition reflected the exceptional depth of talent currently shaping African football.

The 2024–2025 season proved defining for Bounou. As the first-choice goalkeeper for Al Hilal FC in Saudi Arabia, he delivered consistent performances marked by decisive saves and a commanding presence in the penalty area. His contributions with the Moroccan national team further strengthened his candidacy, particularly during high-stakes international competitions where he once again demonstrated composure and leadership.

By securing this award, Bounou adds another milestone to an already impressive career, underscoring his enduring influence on both club and continental football.
