CAN 2025 winner to receive $10 million prize after 43% increase
The Confederation of African Football has announced a significant increase in prize money for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, with the tournament winner set to receive a record amount of 10 million US dollars.
The announcement was made by CAF President Patrice Motsepe following an executive committee meeting held in Rabat, ahead of the tournament hosted by Morocco. The new prize represents a 43 percent increase compared to the previous edition and reflects CAF’s ambition to strengthen the competitiveness and global appeal of African football.
This financial reward marks a major leap compared to recent tournaments. The prize money has more than doubled within four years, highlighting the growing commercial value and international visibility of the Africa Cup of Nations.
In addition to the winner’s prize, the finalist of the 2025 edition will earn 4 million dollars, while the two teams finishing in third and fourth place will each receive 2.5 million dollars. These increases aim to better support national teams and football development across the continent.
The tournament officially kicks off this Sunday with the opening match between host nation Morocco and Comoros, setting the stage for a highly anticipated edition of Africa’s premier football competition.
