Canadian Youtuber couple dies in Tragic Off-Road Rally accident
A Canadian couple of popular YouTubers, Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout, tragically lost their lives on August 7 in a dramatic off-road accident in the mountains of British Columbia. The couple, followed by over 201,000 subscribers on YouTube and 73,800 on Instagram, were engaged in “overlanding,” a type of exploration over challenging terrains.
Sharing their adventures around the world for over five years, the couple had traveled across Canada, the Americas, and even New Zealand. They were engaged since June 2024. According to Colleen Tourout, Stacey’s mother, the pair passed away together, as she confirmed in a heartfelt message on Facebook.
Close friend Colin Stuart described the accident as “the 20 hardest hours of my life” and praised the efforts of Kaslo SAR and other rescuers. The incident reportedly occurred “somewhere in the mountains,” and while one of the victims was already deceased upon rescue, the other succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Preliminary reports suggest the accident may have been caused by a loss of vehicle control.
The tragic event has shocked the off-road and overlanding community, as fans and followers mourn the loss of two adventurous influencers who inspired many with their journeys.
