Car bomb explosion reported in Damascus with no casualties
A car bomb detonated on Saturday evening in the Syrian capital, Damascus, but caused no injuries or fatalities, according to state media reports.
The official news agency SANA said that “an explosion was heard in the Mazzé district,” an upscale neighborhood that hosts several embassies as well as offices of the United Nations. State television later confirmed that the blast was triggered by an improvised explosive device hidden inside an old vehicle.
While no victims were reported, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, indicated that the explosion occurred near a hotel. The incident has not yet been claimed by any group, and authorities have not released further details.
Damascus has experienced relative stability in recent years compared to other parts of the country, but occasional attacks continue to underscore lingering security concerns in the capital.
