Casablanca mobilizes major resources for CAN 2025
Casablanca – As the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 approaches, Casablanca has rolled out an ambitious program to ensure it is fully prepared to host one of the continent’s most prestigious sporting events. From upgraded stadiums and modern transport systems to vibrant fan zones, the city aims to deliver an experience that goes far beyond football.
City officials describe the tournament as a strategic opportunity rather than a one-off sporting event. The preparations are designed to leave a lasting legacy, aligned with Morocco’s broader vision for urban modernization and infrastructure development.
Sports infrastructure
At the heart of the preparations is the comprehensive renovation of the Mohammed V Sports Complex. The project focused on meeting international standards set by continental and global football authorities, rather than cosmetic improvements alone.
The stadium has been equipped with advanced sports technologies, modern lighting systems, upgraded media facilities, and electronic access controls to improve crowd management. In parallel, several training grounds across the city have been refurbished to accommodate participating national teams under optimal conditions.
Mobility and transport
Mobility has been identified as a key pillar of the hosting strategy. Authorities have strengthened public transport services to ensure smooth and safe movement for fans, teams, and visitors.
Key measures include the launch of the AeroBus service connecting Mohammed V International Airport to the city center, increased frequencies for tramway and busway lines on major routes, and the rehabilitation of several strategic roads leading to stadiums and gathering areas.
Fan zones and public spaces
To create a festive and inclusive atmosphere, Casablanca has set up multiple fan zones across different neighborhoods. These spaces are designed not only for live match screenings but also as hubs for cultural and artistic activities.
Major locations include Ain Diab, which is expected to attract large crowds, as well as iconic city squares that will host themed events celebrating African culture. Additional sports and leisure complexes will welcome families in secure environments equipped with high-definition screens.
Municipal services responsible for cleanliness, safety, and logistics will remain fully mobilized throughout the tournament to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for residents and visitors alike.
With these large-scale efforts, Casablanca positions itself as a central pillar of CAN 2025, aiming to showcase Morocco’s organizational capacity and hospitality on a continental stage.
