Casablanca Tech Valley: New technology hub takes shape in Sidi Othmane

Officials have inaugurated the "Casablanca Tech Valley," a strategic technology hub set to emerge in Sidi Othmane. This initiative marks a significant step in transforming the region into a prominent center for technology and innovation.

A partnership agreement was formalized between the city of Casablanca and the Deposit and Management Fund (CDG) to launch this ambitious project. The signing was executed by Casablanca Mayor Nabila Rmili and Khalid Safir, the Director General of CDG, under the auspices of Mohamed Mhidia, Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region. The ceremony took place at the Casablanca-Settat Wilaya.

The tech hub, which will be developed by Ewane, a subsidiary of the CDG group, spans 6.5 hectares and aims to position Casablanca among Africa's leading technological centers. According to Mayor Rmili, this initiative represents a crucial advancement towards achieving urban growth equilibrium while enhancing the region's attractiveness to investors.

Casablanca Tech Valley embodies a visionary approach to foster a competitive urban landscape capable of drawing investments and generating high-value jobs. This project is pivotal in solidifying Casablanca’s status as an African hub of technological excellence.

The initiative is expected to create over 20,000 direct jobs, thereby opening new avenues for the residents of Casablanca and neighboring regions. It also aims to rebalance territorial dynamics within the city while leveraging the existing assets of Sidi Othmane.

In a further commitment to the project's foundation, an additional agreement was signed between Ewane group, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), the Municipal Equipment Fund, and the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council.

This technology hub is one of the major development projects within the Moulay Rachid prefecture’s Sidi Othmane district. It seeks to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth by addressing the increasing pressures on existing economic activity zones and adhering to contemporary urban planning and environmental standards.

The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Jamal Mokhtatar, Governor of Moulay Rachid prefecture, Houssine Nasrallah, Second Vice-President of Casablanca municipality in charge of heritage, and Mehdi El Kabbaj, Director General of Ewane.
