ChatGPT helps Michigan woman win $100,000 powerball prize
A 45-year-old woman from Michigan has won $100,000 in the Powerball lottery after using ChatGPT to generate her numbers. The woman, who usually plays only when the jackpot reaches enormous amounts, said she decided to try her luck when it surpassed one billion dollars.
“I asked ChatGPT for a Powerball number combination, and I used those numbers on my ticket,” she told the U.S. news agency UPI.
During the September 6 drawing, her ticket matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball, earning her $50,000, which was doubled thanks to the Power Play option—an extra dollar that multiplies winnings.
“When I checked the winning numbers, I realized I had matched four white balls and the Powerball. Google said I’d won $50,000, but when I logged into my Michigan Lottery account, I saw that I actually won $100,000 because of the Power Play,” she said. “My husband and I couldn’t believe it.”
The woman plans to use her prize to pay off her home and save the rest. However, the Michigan Lottery reminded players that AI cannot predict lottery outcomes, as all draws are completely random.
