Beijing, November 3, 2025 — The Chinese government on Monday rejected accusations made by U.S. President Donald Trump alleging that Beijing had secretly conducted nuclear weapons tests.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning dismissed the claims during a press briefing, reaffirming that China remains committed to peaceful development and transparency in its nuclear policy.

“China has always followed the path of peaceful development, maintained a policy of no first use of nuclear weapons, and adhered to its pledge to suspend nuclear testing,” Mao said.

She emphasized that China’s nuclear strategy is purely defensive and that the country continues to uphold international agreements aimed at preventing the proliferation of nuclear arms.

The comments came after President Trump claimed over the weekend that China and Russia had carried out nuclear tests “without talking about it,” remarks that sparked international concern and calls for verification.

Beijing has repeatedly called on Washington to respect facts and avoid spreading misinformation that could escalate tensions between major powers.
