China successfully launched a new batch of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites on Monday from the southern island province of Hainan, as part of its growing efforts to build a global internet constellation, state media reported.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the launch marks the 13th addition to China’s expanding network of LEO satellites designed to provide high-speed internet coverage worldwide.

A Long March-12 carrier rocket lifted off from the Wenchang Space Launch Site at 10:41 a.m. local time (02:41 GMT), successfully placing the satellites into their designated orbit.

This latest mission is part of Beijing’s broader plan to enhance digital connectivity and compete with existing satellite internet networks such as Starlink. China’s space industry has accelerated its pace of launches in recent years, focusing on communication, navigation, and earth observation systems to strengthen national and international infrastructure.
